Thank You!

posted Nov 9, 2012, 5:51 AM by Web Guy

THANK YOU to the family members who helped make our October pack meeting SO MUCH FUN for the BOYS! Thanks especially to: Patti, Carrie, Hilary, Julie, Shellie, Dr. Morgan, 5th grade zombies (boy and girl scouts) and Lindbergh High School students. We all really appreciate you!! It takes a lot of work and volunteers to put together the type of meeting we had. If you happened to miss the meeting, we had a haunted hay ride, glow in the dark foosball, scary storytelling and feel and guess game. And thanks to everyone that helped set up, clean up or kept the boys moving and having fun!

Pack Meeting/Use of Kennerly reminder:

posted Nov 9, 2011, 12:25 PM by Web Guy

In order for us to use Kennerly School for our pack and den meetings, ALL children must stay with their group. Siblings are encouraged to attend pack meetings and to participate in the planned activities.  If older siblings do not want to participate, their help running activities would be appreciated. Parents, we need your help with this.  Please have your children stay with you during pack meetings and remind them to stay with the den leaders during den meetings.

This fall will be here before we know it. We are looking to identify four to six adults that know absolutely nothing about scouting to help us coordinate our new Tiger dens starting in September 2011. If you or someone you know would like to learn more, please contact us at info@cubpack826.com.  Here is your chance to get involved with your school, community and son.

Thank You’s!

New Pinewood Derby Date!

posted Jan 13, 2011, 12:28 PM by Web Guy

Hello 826 Racers,

Our Pinewood Derby has been rescheduled to Friday, February 11 at Kennerly, promptly at 7:00pm.

Weigh-in will be Wednesday, February 9 at Kennerly, 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Please refer to the rules (attached) that we provided with your car, and were also in the December newsletter. Most important are the maximum measurements:

* Height: 2.5 inches

* Width: 2.75 inches

* Length: 7.0 inches

* Weight: 5 oz.

* Bottom Clearance: 3/8 inch (minimum)

If your car does not meet these parameters, it may not run properly on the track, or it may not be allowed to race at all.

We will be using Pack 821 as our track provider. This is our first time working with 821. We hope that the learning curve and issues will be minimal for both of us.

Pinewood Derby - POSTPONED

posted Jan 5, 2011, 4:32 AM by Web Guy

Hello 826 Racers,

This is not the email I hoped to send out tonight.

Our pack does not own a Pinewood Derby track. For the last several years we have hired Pack 200 to bring their track to Kennerly and run our Derby. That was the plan for this year also. We learned late last week that there has been a political rift within Pack 200, and the knowledge, experience and equipment of Pack 200 has been divided

For the last several days we have worked diligently to get confirmation from Pack 200 leadership that equipment and staff would be competent to run a derby for 80 scouts, which is a significant challenge for someone with experience, much less someone who inherited an incomplete track setup only five days ago.

We have also tried to locate other tracks and get short term fixes to the problem.  No luck.

The committee has decided to cancel our Friday plans for the derby.  We feel that it is better to do this than risk the potential for a bad derby experience for our pack families. We will do everything possible to get another date set for the derby.

This means no Weigh-in tomorrow night.

This means no meeting on Friday, Jan 7.

To some of you this is a welcomed sigh of relief. You can go to bed now instead of staying up until 1AM tonight. To some of you this will be bitter sweet because you will read it tomorrow after staying up until 1AM.

Whichever you are, we hope that you can sympathize with the dilemma, and bear with us through the reschedule.

Regards,

-Chris
